Terms of Service
Last updated 17 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and [Legal name of your business] (“we”, “us”) for your use of Margin Scout. Please read them. The Acceptable Use Policy and the Refund & Cancellation Policy are part of these terms. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data.
The short version
- You must be 18 or older.
- Margin Scout costs $50 a month. It renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel online at any time.
- The AI work runs on your own Anthropic API key. Anthropic bills you directly for that usage. We never receive that money, so we can’t refund it, including when you don’t like a result.
- Margin Scout is a research and drafting tool. It does not promise that you will make money.
- What you create is yours. Check it before you publish or sell it.
- The consumer-protection rights you have where you live still apply.
This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what applies.
1. Who we are
Margin Scout is operated by [Legal name of your business], registered in Romania under number [Company registration number], tax ID [Tax / VAT ID], at [Registered business address]. You can reach us at [support@your-domain].
You accept these terms when you create an account or use Margin Scout. If you use it for a company or other organisation, you confirm that you may accept these terms on its behalf, and “you” then includes that organisation.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
- Give accurate sign-up details and keep your password safe. One account is for one person, so don’t share it.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
3. What Margin Scout does
Margin Scout searches public web pages for signs of what digital products sell, checks whether the cited pages back up each claim, ranks sub-niches against a fixed rubric, and generates product plans, outlines, book drafts and Notion templates. We may improve, change or remove features. If a change materially reduces what you pay for, we will tell you in advance and you can cancel. If you do, we refund the unused part of your current period.
4. Your Anthropic API key and API charges
- Margin Scout calls Anthropic’s Claude models with an API key from your own Anthropic Console account. A claude.ai Free, Pro or Max subscription does not cover API usage. Never give us your claude.ai login or session details.
- Your use of the Anthropic API is governed by your own agreement with Anthropic, including its Commercial Terms and Usage Policy. You are responsible for following them and for every charge on your key.
- API charges, including any credits you prepay to Anthropic, are paid to Anthropic, not to us. We do not receive, hold or control that money, so we cannot refund it. That includes when a run returns a weak or “Dud” result, when you don’t like a plan or a book, when you stop a job partway, and when a job fails after it has started spending. Anthropic’s own credit terms say its credits are non-refundable. Questions about API billing go to Anthropic.
- Before larger jobs, the app shows an estimated cost. After each job, it shows the cost measured from what Anthropic reports. Both are worked out from Anthropic’s published prices; Anthropic’s own invoice is what counts.
- We use your key only for jobs you start, and we store it encrypted. If a fault on our side makes API calls you did not start or ask for, tell us within 30 days. We will investigate and, where we are at fault, compensate you up to the amount of those charges.
- You can remove your key at any time from your Account page. Jobs then stop until you add another.
5. Subscription, renewal and cancellation
- The subscription costs $50 USD per month, plus any tax shown at checkout. Checkout and payment are handled by Whop. Whop’s terms apply to the payment itself; we are the seller of Margin Scout.
- The subscription renews automatically every month, and you are charged the current price on each renewal date until you cancel.
- You can cancel online at any time, with no fee, from your Account page or your Whop account. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- We will tell you about any price change by email at least 30 days before it applies. It applies from your next renewal after that notice. If you don’t want to pay the new price, cancel before then. Where the law requires us to get your consent to a price increase, we will ask for it.
- We send the renewal reminders and receipts that the law where you live requires.
- If a payment fails, we may pause your access until it is paid.
- Refunds and the 14-day right of withdrawal are explained in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
6. Fair use
AI usage is billed to your own key, but the service still has limits. To keep Margin Scout working for everyone, we may set reasonable limits, for example on runs per day or on book size. Current limits are shown in the app.
7. AI-generated output
- Results are produced by AI models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or similar to what someone else received. The same request can give different results each time.
- Revenue and competition figures come from third-party pages or from estimates whose assumptions are stated. We check that cited pages were opened and support the claim, but pages change and the sellers who publish them can be wrong or exaggerate.
- Output is not legal, financial, tax, medical or other professional advice. Check it yourself before you rely on it, publish it or sell it.
8. No promise of earnings
Margin Scout does not guarantee that any niche, product, price or plan will make money. Figures about what other sellers earn describe them, not you, and are not a forecast of your results. Many new digital products earn little or nothing. Your results depend on your own work, your market and many other things we don’t control. We do not provide customers, sales channels or buy-back of anything you make.
9. Your content and what you create
- “Your content” means what you enter (categories, notes, edits) and the output generated for you (plans, outlines, books, templates). Between you and us, it belongs to you. We transfer to you any rights we may have in output generated for you.
- In many countries, including the United States, material generated purely by AI may not be protected by copyright. Your own substantial edits can be. We can’t guarantee that you will be able to register or enforce rights in output.
- You give us permission to store, process and display your content only to run Margin Scout for you, keep it secure, and meet our legal obligations. We don’t sell your content and we don’t use it to train AI models.
- Margin Scout is a workspace, not an archive. We delete a project 7 days after you last spent money on it (a search, a plan, an outline, writing or a polish); opening, editing or downloading it doesn’t keep it. We warn you in the app 3 days before and let you download its files and search results. Afterwards we keep only a receipt of what it cost. Download anything you want to keep.
- You are responsible for anything you publish or sell: that it doesn’t infringe anyone’s rights, isn’t misleading, follows the rules of the marketplace you sell on, and says it was made with AI where the law or the marketplace requires that.
- Exported documents carry a machine-readable label in their file properties saying they were generated with AI. Leave it in place where the law requires AI-generated content to be marked.
10. Notion and other connections
If you connect Notion with your own token, we use it only to build the pages you ask for, and Notion’s terms apply to your workspace. What we build there is yours: deleting a project never touches it. You can disconnect at any time from your Account page.
11. Acceptable use
You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. If you seriously or repeatedly break it, we may remove content or suspend or close your account.
12. Our software and brand
The Margin Scout software, design and name belong to us. While your account is active, you may use the service for your own purposes, and that permission is personal and non-transferable. You may not resell access, copy or scrape the service, or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows that regardless of this term.
13. Third-party services and trademarks
Margin Scout relies on services from other companies, including Anthropic, Whop, Supabase, Vercel, Notion and Google. Margin Scout is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them, or by any marketplace it searches. Their names are trademarks of their owners and are used here only to say what Margin Scout works with or where data comes from. We don’t control third-party websites linked as evidence, and we aren’t responsible for their content.
14. Feedback
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely, with no obligation to you.
15. Ending the agreement
- You can stop using Margin Scout at any time and delete your account from the Account page.
- We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, don’t pay, put others at risk, or the law requires it. We give notice where that’s reasonable.
- If we close your account for any other reason, or shut down Margin Scout, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice where we can, and refund the unused part of any period you have paid for.
16. Our responsibility for the service
We provide Margin Scout with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows, it is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will produce any particular result.
Nothing in these terms removes or limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded. Examples are the EU and UK rights for digital content and services that don’t conform to the contract, the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, and the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act.
17. Limits on liability
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, gross negligence or deliberate misconduct.
- Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for loss of profit, revenue, business or opportunity.
- Subject to the above, our total liability for all claims about Margin Scout is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and USD 100. Amounts you paid Anthropic don’t count as payments to us.
- If the Australian Consumer Law applies and allows this limit, our liability for failing a consumer guarantee is limited to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
18. Business users
If you use Margin Scout for a business, you will cover our reasonable costs of third-party claims that arise from content you publish or sell, or from your breach of these terms. This section does not apply to consumers.
19. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change, we will email you at least 30 days before it applies and ask you to accept the new terms when you next sign in. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before the change applies; if the change is to your disadvantage, we will refund the unused part of your current period. Minor changes, such as clearer wording, apply when they are posted.
20. Disputes and governing law
- Please contact us first at [support@your-domain]. We will try to resolve any problem within 30 days.
- These terms are governed by the laws of Romania, and disputes go to the competent courts of Bucharest, Romania. However, if you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts. Consumers in the EU can also use the out-of-court dispute resolution bodies in their country.
21. General
- These terms, together with the policies linked above, are the whole agreement between us about Margin Scout.
- If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer this agreement to a business that takes over Margin Scout, and we will tell you if we do. Your rights under these terms won’t be reduced by the transfer. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent.
- We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- We will send you notices by email, to the address on your account.
